Safety first

Replacement steps

  1. Power the phone off and, if possible, discharge it below 25%.
  2. Open the phone: remove the card tray, release the battery cover and the 17 screws on the middle frame (see the full teardown guide).
  3. Disconnect the battery connector from the mainboard first, before anything else.
  4. Soften the battery adhesive with heat — the teardown reference specifies 80°C for 3–5 minutes.
  5. Slide a thin plastic card under one edge of the battery and work it loose. Never use metal and never bend the cell.
  6. Fit the genuine replacement battery with fresh adhesive, reconnect it last, then reassemble and test charging.
