A worn or swollen battery is the most common reason to open a ZTE Blade A72. It has a 6000 mAh battery fixed with adhesive, so it needs gentle heat to remove safely. This guide follows ZTE’s official sequence.

Safety first

  • Use a genuine replacement battery — never fit a swollen or damaged cell.
  • Work on an anti-static mat.
  • Never puncture or bend a lithium battery; a damaged cell can catch fire.

Replacement steps

  1. Power the phone off and, if possible, discharge it below 25%.
  2. Open the phone: remove the card tray, release the battery cover and the 16 screws securing the upper bracket and speaker box (see the full teardown guide).
  3. Disconnect the battery connector from the mainboard first, before anything else.
  4. Soften the battery adhesive with heat — the teardown reference specifies a heat gun at 150°C to soften the cover, then a heating table at 80°C for 3–5 minutes for the battery.
  5. Slide a thin plastic card under one edge of the battery and work it loose. Never use metal and never bend the cell.
  6. Fit the genuine replacement battery with fresh adhesive, reconnect it last, then reassemble and test charging.
