ZTE Blade A52 Battery Replacement: Safe Step-by-Step Guide

A swollen or worn-out battery is the most common reason to open a ZTE Blade A52. The A52 has a 5000 mAh battery held in with adhesive, so it needs gentle heat to remove safely. This guide follows ZTE’s official teardown sequence.

Before you start

  • Power the phone off and, if possible, discharge it below 25% (a charged Li-Po battery is more dangerous if punctured).
  • Work on an anti-static mat with a wrist strap.
  • Have a genuine 5000 mAh replacement battery ready — never fit a swollen or damaged cell.

💡 Never pry a lithium battery with a metal tool and never bend or puncture it. A punctured cell can catch fire.

Removing the old battery

  1. Remove the SIM/microSD tray, then clip off the battery cover starting at the side-key area.
  2. Unfasten the 17 bracket screws and remove the upper and lower brackets (see our full teardown guide for the exact order).
  3. Disconnect the battery connector from the mainboard first — always release the battery before other components.
  4. Place the phone screen-down on a heating table at 80°C for 3–5 minutes to soften the battery adhesive.
  5. Slide a thin plastic card under one side of the battery and work it loose. Do not use metal and do not force it — reheat if it resists.
  6. Lift the old battery out.

Fitting the new battery

  1. Clean off the old adhesive and apply fresh battery adhesive strips.
  2. Seat the new battery and connect it to the mainboard last, after the other FPCs are reconnected.
  3. Reassemble the brackets and screws in reverse order, then clip the battery cover back on.
  4. Power on and check the battery charges normally with a matching charger.
